She tagged me. I am a terrible blogger! I think I am supposed to write 7 random things about me so here it goes. Please try not to doze off while reading. Oh and check out Tuesday's Blog! She's awesome and is very talented! Done By Tuesday

1. I am not good at talking about myself.

2. I love animals, all animals, except for snakes. I am sorry, I just can't find any love inside for them.

3. I'm married with two great little boys and another one on the way. He's due in September.

4. I love sweets, I wish I didn't but I love them. I'm good about eating them and then being satisfied. I hardly finish anything unless it's really, really good. But I don't think I could give them up.

5. Darn, I'm only to number 5. Let's see, I'm somewhat of an artist, I love to paint. I haven't done much lately because of the pregnancy but I plan on getting back to it when I am feeling better.

6. Oh, here's a big one. I have huge babies. My first one was 12.08 lbs, my second one they pushed for me to be induced so that we didn't have another 12 pounder. He was 10 1/2 pounds. I am not out to break any records so I am sure this third baby will be induced too. I hated being induced.

7. Shew, almost done. I love staying up late at night and sleeping late the next day. I don't get to do that much since I have children but I try to do that every chance I get.

Went to the Mountains

I love the mountains! I live about 45 minutes away so it's a short drive and I am there. We drove up the Blue Ridge Parkway and had a very good time. I took a lot of photos too. Along the way, there is wild aster that covers the mountain. I took a few photos and painted one. I will also post some photos of the mountains. Peak is happening right about now but I went last weekend which was before peak. This painting is for sale right now. I Hat You!

That's the note that my 6 year old who is learning how to read and write just left me. He hats me! Somehow the missing e completely takes the sting out of it, lol.

He's mad because I laughed at him when he fell out of the hammock. Well, he didn't fall, he was pushing it, swinging his brother and I and all of a sudden, he decided to jump in, only he dove for the hammock as the hammock was swinging back towards him so when he went to jump in, the hammock was no longer there and he hit the ground. I DID ask him is he was okay, if he was hurt, before I started laughing. I could not help myself, I know, bad me, but it was more of a surprised laugh than anything, and it was funny because he's always so cautious. I did not expect that from him. Now my 4 year old, I could see doing this. He's very daring. Anyhow, he hats me and it's probably well deserved today! lol I will have to save this note. And I did apologize for laughing.

My new painting for today is posted at the top. I've had it since about October of last year but it really has not been up for sale. It's framed and the size is 12 x 14 inches. A Chicken and a Rooster, it's titled "What's that Dear?"

Artist Trading Cards

These are fun to create. They're small, about the size of a playing card but you can frame them and they make wonderful little collectors items.

I just started creating these. I really enjoy it because they allow me to try out different ideas or recreate small versions of larger paintings I have created. It's almost addicting! Anyhow, they are a great way to get a little sample of an artists work. They usually are not very costly and most that I have seen are of good quality. I know mine are. Why Do I Sell On Ebay?

I've asked myself this question a million times. I don't think I ever would have gotten up enough nerve to present my art to someone to purchase. I started on ebay in November of 2003. I listed some small, simple watercolor paintings. One was of some pears, I listed it for $10.00 and it sold. Now, I had never sold any of my art before then. I was thrilled that not only someone wanted one of my paintings, but that they actually paid to get it! That $10.00 meant a lot to me and I never cashed the check!

After that sale, there were many others and my final selling price increased over time. When I began painting and selling online, I had a 1 year old and a 3 year old, so it allowed me to earn a little extra money on the side. It also encouraged me to accelerate my creativity. I was able to buy more supplies with my earnings and I was able to have one thing outside of being a wife and mother that was mine. I enjoy painting and it keeps me from drowning in the unappreciated role of mother, maid, cook and wife. Now do not get me wrong. I love my family. I love taking care of them. I love doing things for them. I would not trade them for anything in this world. I would give up my art career in a heartbeat if it interfered with them. What I mean is that I had something else that defined me, that gave me some satisfaction. I think there are a lot of mothers out there who feel unsatisfied only for the fact that they are in constant doubt about their decisions. Being a parent is a lot of mental anguish. Someone once said that having a child is like wearing your heart on your sleeve, and I agree with them. There's no greater joy or pain than loving a child.

I know I feel like a failure a good bit, as far as parenting is concerned. It's hard to be perfect. It's hard to do right for yourself much less someone else. To be responsible for someone else's well being. There's a lot to live up to and heavy consequences if you fail.

With my art, I get to let some of that go for a while. I get to lose myself in a painting for a little while. It's nice! And if the painting is a success. I get to bask in that instant payoff. One, that someone liked my painting enough to pay for it, and two to know a little part of me is out there somewhere, in someone's life and hopefully, I get to take them a little somewhere while they look at my creation.

A Success!

The Big Cats Charity Auction was a success! I am so proud to be a member of that group. It's nice to be able to help out animals a little bit at a time. Not to mention we bring awareness and attention to them. My next project will be for people but that will be a while away.

We raised over $1,300 with one auction on ebay for a Chairty that was in need. There are also many smaller charity projects in the works, so please check back. I promise to update you.

Hello and Welcome

Hello and welcome to my blog! Typed here in the great state of South Carolina! I have a few things to keep you entertained. At least I hope I do!

First off, I would like to tell you a little about myself. My name is Sarah Davis, I live in Moore, South Carolina. I am an artist who mostly sells her art online. I will be using this blog as a place to discuss things and to promote some of my new paintings that I will be offering for sale. I create with oil, acrylics and watercolors. I like to switch around. All of the materials that I use are professional grade. If you have any questions about my artwork, please feel free to contact me.

Now, on to some entertainment. The Big Cats are coming! This is an exciting event for an online art group I belong to. We donate a percentage of our sales to different animal charities that are listed with us. This particular auction is taking place today. It's set to start at around 9:30 PM tonight EST. I will post their banner in the next post. You can also view their site at www.artforcritters.com . A good number of the artists have created artist trading cards. These are small paintings that are 2.5 inches by 3.5 inches. We each painted a big cat and have donated it to the auction that is set to start tonight.
